For our 150th anniversary, Class 3 have been exploring the Victorian era through a fascinating combination of science, history and critical thinking. Their work on the circulatory system helped them understand how Victorian doctors and scientists built upon earlier discoveries, developing new tools and techniques such as the stethoscope and the measurement of blood pressure, which transformed medical diagnosis and treatment.
Alongside their scientific investigations, pupils explored some of the big questions of the Victorian age, discussing the impact of industrialisation, social class, education, working conditions and scientific innovation on people's lives. Through research, debate and enquiry, the children demonstrated impressive curiosity and thoughtful reflection, considering not only how the Victorians changed the world, but also who benefited most from that progress - and at what cost! We are incredibly proud of the depth of understanding, discussion and learning shown throughout this engaging cross-curricular project - very well done Class 3!
